Torq is intended for adults 18 and older. When you create an account you confirm you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly create accounts for or collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it. (We may make Torq available to younger users in the future with additional protections; until then, the Service is 18+.)
Account information: Email, an age range you select, and a display name (your name if you provide one, otherwise the handle from your email).
Learning data: Lessons completed, quiz results, streaks, and XP — used to run and personalize your experience.
Build photos (optional): Photos you choose to submit for a project are stored securely and only appear on a public portfolio if you opt to share them.
Usage analytics: We use product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the app is used and improve it. See section 5.
We use PostHog for privacy-conscious product analytics (pageviews, feature usage) to improve Torq — not for advertising or cross-site tracking. Where the law requires consent for non-essential analytics (e.g., the EU/UK), we ask for your consent before loading analytics and you can decline or change your choice at any time.
Some project/tool links (e.g., to Amazon) are affiliate links, chosen contextually based on the lesson — never on your personal data. We may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. No brand can pay to be recommended. These links are disclosed where they appear.
Data is stored on encrypted, industry-standard cloud infrastructure hosted in the United States. If you access Torq from outside the US (e.g., the EU/UK), your data is transferred to and processed in the US. We take reasonable steps to protect your data and, in the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, will notify affected users and authorities as required by applicable law.
You can delete your account and all associated data yourself at any time from Profile → Delete my account — this is immediate and permanent, and cancels any active subscription. You can also request access to or a copy of your personal data, and withdraw analytics consent, at any time by emailing privacy@torqapp.app; we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR/UK-GDPR). You can opt out of the employer/talent portal at any time.
