Welcome to Torq. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Torq ("Torq," "we," "us") governing your use of the Torq app and website (the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Torq is for adults 18 and older. When you create an account you confirm you are at least 18. Torq is not intended for, and we do not knowingly allow, anyone under 18 to create an account or use the Service. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will address it. (We may make Torq available to younger users in the future with additional protections; until then, the Service is 18+.)
Torq is an educational and entertainment platform that teaches skills through lessons, games, and optional hands-on project guides. Our content is general information for learning. It is not professional training, certification, licensing, or engineering advice, and it does not replace hands-on instruction from a qualified professional. You should not rely on Torq as your only source of guidance for any task that can affect your safety, your property, or others.
Read this section carefully. Some Torq content describes hands-on activities that involve real hazards — including electricity, heat, sharp tools, power tools, chemicals, batteries, and heights. Attempting these activities can cause serious injury, death, or property damage.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login secure. Don't share your credentials or let others use your account. A parent and child may link accounts so the parent can view the child's progress. You may delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Delete my account.
You agree not to: break the law or encourage others to; harass, bully, or harm other users; post content that is dangerous, hateful, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate; impersonate others; attempt to hack, disrupt, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service; or use the Service in a way that could harm Torq or its users. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
You keep ownership of the content you post (community posts, build photos, comments). By posting, you grant Torq a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and share that content within the Service to operate and promote it. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to post it. Don't include other people's personal information, and if you're under 18, don't post content that identifies where you live or study. We may remove content that violates these Terms, and we respond to valid copyright notices.
Torq offers a free tier and optional paid plans (Premium, Family). Paid plans are billed through our payment processor (Stripe). If your plan includes a free trial, we begin charging when the trial ends. Paid plans renew automatically — monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you choose — at the then-current price, until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from Profile → Manage subscription; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We may change prices with reasonable advance notice. Except where required by law, subscription fees are generally non-refundable, which is why we offer a free trial to evaluate paid features first.
Some tool/material links (for example, to Amazon) are affiliate links, chosen based on the lesson rather than your personal data. We may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed where they appear. See our Privacy Policy for more.
Torq and its content — lessons, text, graphics, mascots, logos, and software — are owned by Torq or its licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for your own learning. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute our content without permission.
Any AI assessment of submitted build photos is an automated estimate for learning and motivation — it is not a professional certification or a guarantee of skill or work quality. The employer/talent portal is opt-in. Employers who use it agree to comply with all applicable laws, including laws on the employment of minors. Torq does not employ users and is not a party to, or responsible for, any relationship between users and employers.
The Service links to and relies on third parties (for example, video hosts, payment processing, and analytics). We're not responsible for third-party sites, products, or content, and your use of them is subject to their terms.
The Service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete or correct for your situation. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Torq and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, death, or property damage arising from activities you choose to attempt based on the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold Torq harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of others. If you are a parent or guardian agreeing on behalf of a minor, this applies to that minor's use as well.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Safety & Assumption of Risk, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnification) will survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. By continuing to use the Service after changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Torq's operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you have a concern, please contact us first — we'll try to resolve it informally. If we can't, the dispute will be handled by the courts or dispute-resolution process identified in the then-current version of these Terms.
